Angelina Jolie Voight was born on June 4, 1975 to actors  Jon Voight and Marcheline Bertrand in Los Angeles, California. After her parents separation she was raised by her mother, who had given up her acting career to give attention to her childrens’ upbringing.

Angelina Jolie was interested in movies and acting as a child, though she claimed she was never inspired by her father.

At the age of 11 she enrolled in acting classes at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute which won her many stage roles. At 14 Angelina Jolie gave up acting and became a model and funeral director. After graduating from high school she returned to theater studies.

Angelina always had an affiliation with knives. She used to practice knife-play as a teenager.

Later at the Beverly Hills High School she was a bullied student with an inferiority complex because everybody else around her was swathed in riches unlike her. She went through many suicidal phases at this time.

 In 1999, Angelina Jolie became an acclaimed actress after working with Denzel Washington in The Bone Collector. She shot to fame with her role as Lara Croft in a series of movies which started with Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001). Angelina Jolie has since done a staggering number of movies.

Rumors were that Jolie was dating her Mr.and Mrs.Smith co-star Brad Pitt in 2004. She denied the rumors saying she would never break a home being the ‘other woman’. Later after Pitt had filed for divorce from Jennifer Aniston, word was out that the two were seeing each other.  In 2006, they had a daughter named Shiloh.

Jolie and Pitt have adopted many children and pursue many humanitarian projects. Angelina Jolie is a Good will Ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
