Avril Lavigne’s Surprise Engagement to Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger: News is out that fellow Canadian music artists Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger (of the band Nickelback) will be tying the knot in exactly six months. E! News confirmed today that the duo is engaged and all set to marry in exactly half a year’s time. The Canadian couple has done a fantastic job in keeping their relationship a secret.

Ever since the news of Chad and Avril’s engagement came out, Twitter has been trending with tweets related to the news. Fans and fellow celebrities are finding the news extremely hard to digest, and tongue in cheek comments regarding their hook up have been streaming on Twitter.

Avril and Chad are exactly ten years apart in age. The two starting dating six months from now and the relationship was kept as a hushed affair. According to reports the Nickelback front-runner proposed to the pop/rock singer with a sparkling 14-carat ring – the answer was obviously a yes.

Both the families are extremely excited at the union of the couple. A source very close to the families told that Chad Kroeger makes Avril very happy, and the two are very much in love.

This will be the first wedding for Nickelback’s Chad, and the second for Avril Lavigne. She was previously married to Deryck Whibley of Sum 41; they got divorced in 2009. Avril also dated Brody Jenner in the past.

Even though most of the tweeters responded to the news with shock, hysteric comments and disbelief; there were some who coolly congratulated the couple. Another amusing event took place on Twitter when Maroon 5 star Adam Levine was being confused with Avril Lavigne – he tweeted in a light hearted tweet that he is definitely not engaged to Chad.

The reason their engagement is taken so non-seriously by the fans is that both come from diverse musical backgrounds. However the fans fail to realize that this is a union of two persons, not the music.
