Chris Lighty Apparently Commits Suicide – Dead at 44: Hip hop manager and industry mogul Chris Lighty, who is famous for managing renowned stars, was found dead in New York City today. The star manager had apparently committed suicide by shooting himself in the head, it was reported – he was 44.
Chris Lighty has managed music stars like Mariah Carey, 50 cent, Ja Rule and Sean Diddy Combs. He was found lifeless at his Bronx apartment soon after he was in a huge fight with his estranged wife. Lighty’s death will be investigated; however till now reports are that he shot himself.
Chris Lighty’s sudden passing has sent waves of shock and disbelief across the music industry. Music icons like Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Sean Diddy and Ludacris expressed their melancholy on Twitter. The social networking site was streaming with testimonials, prayers and condolences for the departed hip hop personality.
Nick Cannon said that he cannot believe his big brother is gone and that he is devastated. He added that Lighty was a mentor, pioneer and a great friend. Pop sensation Rihanna tweeted saying that may God have his mercy on Lighty; she sent her prayers to his family and loved ones. Others who tweeted include Talib Kweli Greene, The Game, Terrence J and Brandy Norwood. Soon after Chris’ death Twitter started streaming with related tweets and the news started to trend.
The cause of Chris’ death is apparently his fight with his separated wife, who had filed for divorce last year. Apparently the hip-hop mogul owed around $5 million to the IRS and was under serious financial debt. Troubles regarding his personal life and financial condition probably led him to shooting himself.
According to police reports Lighty stepped out of his New York apartment around 11.30am and soon after a gunshot was heard. He shot himself with a 9mm pistol.
