David Letterman Photos and Bio – Born as David Michael Letterman on 12 April, 1947 in Indiana, USA, this comedian changed the course of comedy talk shows on television. Since his early school days, Letterman was famous as the class clown and his tendency to crack witty jokes was eminent. David’s father, Harry Joseph Letterman, was always the funny guy in any party and David was highly inspired by him. His aspiration to be like his father drove him to being the legend that he is today.

His career started with news casting. He was a ‘weatherman’ on a radio news channel, and his funny side was noted by many when he used to make statements like congratulating a rainstorm on developing to a hurricane. He also hosted a late night show called Freeze Dried Movies along with a children’s TV show. He was also the anchorperson for a Saturday morning show called Clover Power.

After moving to Los Angeles he got his first comedy show on NBC in 1980. The show made him famous all over and bagged him two Emmys but due to the not-so-good ratings the show had to end within four months.

He made his return as the comedy giant David Letterman in February 1982 with a late night show – Late Night with David Letterman. The show ran four days a week and after the huge success there was no looking back. The show runs till date.

David was given the honor of hosting the 67th Academy Awards ceremony, but according to the critics he disappointed. He was ‘out of place’ hosting a show of such a paramount level with his ‘petty’ jokes and humor.

David Letterman owns his personal production company Worldwide Pants Incorporated. Under the banner of his production he runs his own show as well as other successful TV shows like Everybody Loves Raymond. Worldwide Pants has also produced feature films.
