Gabby Douglas’ Gold Medal Win Inspires Many
Gabby Douglas’ Gold Medal Win Inspires Many: After Gabrielle Douglas sprung her way into a glorious Olympics victory in London, she was appraised by the who’s who of international media. The reason there is so much resonance about her win is that the 17 year old is the first African American to win the title of a gold medalist in the Olympics.
Despite all the raging gossip regarding Gabby’s Olympic hair circulated on the internet, the Olympic champion won praise from some of the finest celebrities. Gabby Douglas was praised in very kind words by her favorite rapper Lil Wayne. He called Gabby an ‘icon’ and stated that he is glad he lived to see what she just did in the Olympics.
Another fascinated and overjoyed celebrity was Oprah Winfrey, who tweeted that she was extremely happy and was tearing up with happiness.
Among many others who made congratulatory tweets for the teenager were pop star Ciara, Olympics star Michael Phelps, Gabrielle Union, Elizabeth Banks and Octavia Spencer.
A little craziness tweaked in on Twitter as rap star Nicki Minaj complained about Gabby not replying to her tweet. Reportedly, Gabby Douglas had replied to her favorite super star Lil Wayne’s tweet right away but Minaj’s tweet remained unanswered. At this the rap artist re-tweeted that she’s had it because Gabby replied to Wayne but not her, and she’s going to have a ‘fight’.
Gabby’s overnight stardom does not end here; the girl now has a box of cereal dedicated to her. Cereal giants Kellogs announced that their corn flakes boxes will be available in a special Gabby Douglas limited edition packaging.
Replying to all the fame and appreciation, Douglas said that it feels amazing and she is extremely excited. She added that it is out of this world to see posters and sign-boards dedicated to her all over the country.
