An account named ‘Anonymous Own3r’ on Twitter broke the news, claiming responsibility for the server outages. The account owner tweeted in broken English that the attack is only coming from him (or her) and there is no other person involved in it.

Angry and hostile responses from people were tweeted, saying that this crashes business websites for thousands of people. Many personal businesses are run by GoDaddy supported websites.

Some reports say that the GoDaddy website has been recovered. However, the anonymous attacker continues to boycott the website and find his or her support from the general internet users. The hacker’s main motive behind the act was to protest against GoDaddy for supporting SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act). Many people have tweeted to the hacker that this act is not only harming GoDaddy users but also the people who support his anti-SOPA ideology.

Tweets appeared on the internet making the same remarks; one tweet said that by using GoDaddy you are supporting internet censorship. Even though this campaign by the anonymous user has suddenly gone big, nobody knows whether this is enough to stop SOPA.

GoDaddy is also criticized for supporting the very much unpopular bill PIPA (Protect IP Act). The website has taken quite a lot of critique from various ends, ever since it started supporting SOPA and PIPA.

GoDaddy has been trying to answer queries and apprehensions posed by its users, but fails. The latest tweet by the company read that there are too many messages waiting to be answered, and they are working feverishly to resolve all issues.
