Google 14th Birthday and Video Controversies
Google 14th Birthday and Video Controversies: World’s most famous search engine Google is in the news for many reasons. The foremost reason is the 14th birthday of the beloved search engine, which was celebrated on September 27. Originally, the company that changed the world of internet was incorporated on September 4, 1998.
Google celebrated its birthday with its users worldwide, via its favorite mode of celebration: the Google doodle. There was a chocolate cake on the Google logo, which you can watch getting eaten if you play the doodle animation.
Google was wished on its birthday by celebrities and users on the social networking site Twitter. The search engine also went down due to the ‘birthday rush’ on September 27th. Most birthday tweets were tongue in cheek wishes. Tim Siedell wished Google a happy birthday and said that he ‘searched for the perfect gift’ but had to give up after he received 645,000,000 results. Other comical tweets suggested that Google is a ’14 year old teenager that knows it all’ and its birthday party got too wild (and thus the site was down).
The Google team should be congratulated for making the site what it is today. It has single handedly changed the way we work, and has transformed the searching process in our lives. Google is not just a search engine anymore, but other major apps like Google Maps, YouTube and Gmail are equally popular and favorite among users. Even though Google+ did not make a revolution on the internet, it is still a decent social networking site.
Another reason why Google was in the news lately was the controversial Brazilian video on YouTube. Obeying Brazil court orders, Google blocked the YouTube video that criticizes a candidate in the municipal elections n Brazil. YouTube is also blocked in various Muslim countries because it is hosting a highly offensive video against the Muslim religion.
