Michael Clarke Duncan Photos and Bio: Michael Clarke Duncan is a renowned actor who shot to fame after appearing in the all time favorite film ‘The Green Mile’. The actor was also nominated for an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for his supporting role in the film. He died on September 3, 2012 due to complications from a heart attack.

Michael Clarke Duncan was born on December 10, 1957 in Chicago, Illinois, United States to a single mother. He also had a sister named Judy. Their mother Jean Duncan was a house cleaner who brought them up all by herself after their father abandoned them.

Duncan had an inborn talent of acting. Michael Clarke Duncan was fond of the profession but could not adopt it due to financial restrictions. He was studying at Alcorn State University when his mother fell ill and he had to drop out to take over the family responsibility. His tall, muscular and well built structure helped him bag jobs like a club bouncer and ditch digging.

Michael Clarke Duncan started to work as a security / bodyguard for various Hollywood and music celebrities; he quit after one of his employers, Notorious BIG was killed in 1997. Soon after some commercials and small jobs came his role in the film Armageddon. Michael Clarke Duncan worked with actor Bruce Willis in the 1998 flick and developed an affiliation with him.

Then Duncan had his big break with the film ‘The Green Mile’ where he played the role of a murderer. The role alongside actor Tom Hanks bagged him an Academy Award and Golden Globe nomination along with other awards and honors.

After this fame he was cast in many celebrated Hollywood productions including ‘Planet of the Apes’, ‘The Whole Nine Yards’ and ‘The Scorpion King’.

In 2009 Duncan became a complete vegetarian and quit eating meat. He supported the PETA organization and appeared in their campaigns.

He was engaged to his girlfriend Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth when he suffered a heart attack. According to reports she attempted CPR on him and rushed him to the hospital, where he was unable to recover. The couple was reportedly planning to marry next year.
