Nicki Minaj Photos and Bio: Nicki Minaj is an American rapper, songwriter, singer and dancer originally hailing from Trinidad. She is famous for her unique rapping style, apart from the fact that she is one of the very few female rappers in the industry. She shot to fame with her debut album ‘Pink Friday’ (2010).

She was born as Onika Tanya Maraj on December 8, 1982 in Saint James, Trinidad and Tobago. Her parents are Carol and Robert Maraj; her mother was a gospel singer. Nicki Minaj has two siblings, brothers Makiya and Jelani. She was raised by her mother in Queens, New York, after her father went through serious alcohol problems.

As a student, Minaj was interested in music and the performing arts. She played the clarinet and participated in drama programs. She dreamed of becoming an actress, and also took acting classes, but she did not get any major chances to pursue acting. After switching from one job to another, and being fired from waiting jobs, Minaj ended up as a rapper on a group called ‘Hoodstars’.

Nicki Minaj has released two studio albums titled Pink Friday (2010) and Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded (2012). She also has three official mix tape albums to her credit, including Playtime is Over (2007), Sucka Free (2008) and Beam Me Up Scotty (2009). She has collaborated with artists like Young Money and Nickelback.

Nicki Minaj has endorsed many products as a celebrity; most of these include Casio, Nokia Lumia 900 and Pepsi. She collaborated with Mattel to produce a custom designed Nicki Minaj Barbie doll that was priced at a staggering $15,000.

Nicki Minaj does not speak much about her relationships, nor has she been reported to date anyone. She speaks out about this simply stating that she does not date men or women.

Minaj recently signed up as a judge on talent show American Idol along with Mariah Carey, Keith Urban and Randy Jackson.
