Sammi Kane Kraft Dies in Car Crash: 20 year old actress and athlete, Sammi Kane Kraft died in a car crash in Los Angeles on early Tuesday morning. The actress is famous for her role in the 2005 baseball flick ‘Bad News Bears’, which she got due to her real life baseball skills. Services for the departed actress and athlete are still pending.
Sammi Kane Kraft’s death was reported by her brother Frankie Kraft. According to reports, Sammi died in a car crash at the 10 Freeway near Crenshaw Boulevard. She was riding in an Audi that was being driven by her 21 year old friend Molly Kate Adams. According to reports from the California Highway Patrol, the car carrying the two girls was over speeding, and was later hit by another car.
Both the girls were rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre, where Sammi Kane was pronounced dead. The driver of the Audi, Molly Kate Adams survived the crash and was treated for minor injuries; she was later taken under arrest for suspicion of driving under influence.
Sammi Kane Kraft was born on April 2, 1992; she was an American child actress, baseball athlete and recording artist. Kraft also had great interest in music. She was 13 years old when she was chosen to play the role of pitcher Amanda Whurlitzer in ‘Bad News Bears’ in 2005.
The film was a remake of a hit 1976 comedy about a baseball league. Kraft’s role was originally played by Academy Award winning actress Tatum O Neil in the 1976 version. Kraft was given the role because of her immaculate baseball skills. She played the role of a baseball buff who was a misfit in her league’s baseball team. ‘Bad News Bears’ was her only film to date.
Kraft was also fond of music – she formed her own band called Scary Girls. She and her band members played folk/country/rock music.
