Time Magazine Breastfeeding/Attachment Parenting Cover Causes Stir
Time Magazine Breastfeeding/Attachment Parenting Cover Causes Stir – Minds all over the world fail to understand what the Time Magazine editors were thinking while choosing a cover for the latest Attachment Parenting inspired issue. The magazine cover is utterly inappropriate in all meanings of the word. The internet is ablaze with shocked readers seeking answers from the world renown and favourite magazine.
The Time Magazine cover shows a young mother breast feeding her almost four-year old son while he stands on a chair. The cover story titled ‘Are You Mom Enough‘ talks of parent attachment techniques like breastfeeding and co-sleeping.
Looks like Time did not ponder once over the consequences this photo would have on the almost four year old pictured on the cover. This is not taking journalism to a whole new level – instead this is making journalism exactly what it should not be. Imagine you grow up to find out you were pictured on a world famous magazine cover as a toddler with your mother, breastfeeding. The picture is alarming for us, but looks like the lady on the cover is very calm about it.
The woman breastfeeding her son on the cover is Jamie Lynne Grumet, who is a devout philosopher. She claims to have been nursed till the age of six herself. Grumet was shot by photographer Martin Schoeller along with three other mothers.
